Dr Nat (Natalie) is a family physician in Melbourne, Australia, where she lives with her husband, toddler son and infant daughter.
She currently works as a Deputy Medical Director for the world’s leading international healthcare, medical and security assistance company. She is a qualified group fitness teacher and personal trainer, and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement Studies), Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Post Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine, as well as Fellowships of both the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians, and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Previously an Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Hong Kong, she has been involved in clinical research and the teaching of both medical students and residents. Her publications have covered nutritional status in athletes, and various other topics relating to health and wellness and she has competed in various sporting events (swimming, athletics, tennis) since an early age, and more recently has developed an interest in adventure racing, running and CrossFit-inspired workouts… Well, the interest remains but ability to partake has fallen by the wayside a bit!
Also of note she is also a Gemini and a Dragon in the Chinese Horoscope – according to her husband this makes her a Two-Headed Dragon! (She says ‘whatever…’).
She started this blog when she first discovered she was pregnant – rather than blindly following the widespread advice to ‘taking it easy while you’re pregnant’, she wanted to look at the evidence surrounding exercise during pregnancy as well as document her own exercise journey throughout the course of her pregnancy. Now after the arrival of baby 1 (two days of labour finishing with an emergency C-section) and baby 2 (drug-free VBAC), she will continue looking at post-natal issues, health, nutrition, fitness, and anything else interesting that takes her (and her readers’) fancy!
