Study – Exercise Does Not Burn Off Bad Diet

When I was a teenager, I truly believed that my Diet Coke would cancel out the negative effects of my Mars Bar… ESPECIALLY as I was super active and participated in every school sport known to man (except swimming… that’s a story for another time).

A study in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition has shot my theory out of the water by finding that exercise does not negate the effect of excessive dietary intake.

They found that over Christmas, people gain an average nearly 2 pounds and also increase their body fat, and that increasing their exercise levels DOES NOT protect against this.

Sigh.
