8km road run & carrot cake

Was thinking I’ve been doing too many WODs lately (calm calm die-hard CrossFitters, there ARE other forms of physical activity) and thought I’d go for a run yesterday…

Road run – usual route – 8km distance – easy peasy right?

NO IT WAS NOT. Something drastic has happened to my body since my last run, and no, it wasn’t simply the half carrot cake I had the other day (it wasn’t my fault, turns out baby LOVES carrot cake… especially icing).

It was literally one of those semi-out of body experiences when inanimate object (carrot cake) spoke to me with seductive tones…. ‘Eat me… Eat meeeeeee’.

Drool...

Drool…

Running itself felt good, no joint pain, heart or lung discomfort. Just felt kind of heavy, slow, and needed to pee with every step. After I channeled my inner zen and entered a state of acceptance, I got massive stitches on both sides. Sigh.

So it was really an 8km run with 2-3 one minute walks. Very felt lame. And am only posting this today because I was pretty much in a coma yesterday after that…

Funnily enough didn’t feel any abdominal discomfort (except for the stitches), round ligament stretching and all the other things you’re meant to feel when you’re lugging around a kettlebell in your gut…

The upside was that I was exhausted last night and ready for a good sleep. The downside was that it seemed the baby and the cat had other ideas – boy thought it would be a good idea to play Street Fighter in my belly, and cat had a delirium episode playing ‘racehorse’ around the house. Fab.

PS: if anyone has a great carrot cake recipe, please share!
